In this case, the heirs of Franz Friedrich Grunbaum, an Austrian Holocaust victim, sued Richard Nagy, a London-based art collector, claiming ownership of two works by Egon Schiele allegedly sold under duress to the Nazis. In 2018, the New York Supreme Court found in favor of the heirs, holding that there was no evidence their ancestor had voluntarily sold the Schiele works, and thus, the heirs had superior title to the works.
