Citation
17 U.S.C. § 107

Summary

Fair uses of a copyrighted work include criticism, comments, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research. In determining whether the use of a copyrighted work is fair use (and thus not a copyright infringement), four factors to be considered include the reproduction’s purpose and character, the nature of the copyrighted work, the amount of the copyrighted work used in the reproduction, and the effect the reproduction has on the copyrighted work’s market value.
