Upon investigation, the Manhattan District Attorney (“DA”) concluded that over the course of three decades Michael Steinhardt held in possession 180 looted antiquities in violation of New York state law. In lieu of a formal trial, the DA and Mr. Steinhardt  entered into a first of its kind

non-prosecution agreement (“NPA”), which required the DA to refrain from pursuing charges against Mr. Steinhardt for crimes arising out of his acquisition, possession, sale, and tax treatment of these stolen antiquities, in return for Mr. Steinhardt following certain stipulations...
