In April 1997, the Library of the University of Kassel, Germany, filed suit against Thomas Chatalbash in Federal District Court in Massachusetts seeking the return of seven miniatures (illuminated manuscript pages) from a sixteenth-century copy of the Book of Hours that had been stolen at the end of World War II.
