- This publication includes an introductory essay on the artist's sculptures and techniques. There is also.a chronology, a discussion of the artist's working methods, and a catalogue which presents 73 known bronzes.
The work is divided chronologicaly into three separate groups; references are given to Hébard's original classifications by number, and to the plates in this study.
The undated catalogue entries include materials, dimensions, exhibition history, and commentary.

- After the artist's death, over 100 sculptural works were discovered in his studio. Those which were intact or could be reproduced were remodeled by Albert Bartholomé, and lost-wax casts were made Hébard.
This catalogue was translated from the original French mnauscript. The British edition was published in the same year (London, K.Paul, Trench, Trubner, 1944). Several subsequent studies by Rewald of Degas' scultpure were published, i.e. in 1946, 1974, and 1990 (see database for 1990 reprint).
